Stuck on a coolant leak

Filled engine with oil yesterday only to realize the pan was leaking like crazy. Drained oil carefully back into jugs and realized pan had wrong gasket so I swapped pans/gaskets/isolators and now pan doesn't leak a drop.

Filled with coolant today only to realize coolant is leaking behind thermostat housing. Cliff told me how to remove it and I did and there wasn't a gasket there at all, just some smeared sealant. I cleaned off both surfaces and made a gasket and used permatex aviation and it was a huge pain to get the housing slid back in place without the gasket slipping. I got it all in finally an hour later and put everything back together (a lot of stuff had to be removed to get to this housing) and filled with coolant only to realized it's still leaking in the same place. I must have buggered up the gasket somehow when putting it back in. I need a better plan. I'm about to light this bus on Fire.

Burn, baby, burn!!!

Buses are from the devil, send 'em home?

I am sure the Good Lord will be relieved to hear you mutter a few obsenities towards that bus, as he will then count you amongst the knowledgeable.

There is NOTHING heavenly about buses.

Those that are fooled, thinking buses are vehicles for good, have ignored the warnings in Revalations...

Use the (profanity deleted) devil machine for good works, and discard.

Happy coaching!

BW: thanks for the laugh

Cliff, I have tons of gasket material and can make one. I don't think I can wait the three days for yours to get from Arizona to florida. But I appreciate you being willing. I wish I could see what it looks like because I could replicate it and carefully cut one out of gasket material. So what if I made the gasket a little bit to large with a tab to hold onto as I'm sliding the gasket into place?

Coat the housing surface and corresponding side of gasket with Permatex High Tack. Let it set up for about a minute, then stick gasket to housing or block. Seat with finger and install. Gasket will stay in place. Don't skimp on the Permatex.
