Also proof in writing and signed by him or his mechanic that it was rebuilt and by whom and could you talk to them about it.
If it was him have your mechanic friend question him about the engine of things just anybody might not know about a 2 stroke engine unless they had rebuilt one.
Check date codes on tires because they are 500.00 ea or more. At 6 years sitting outside they are getting ready to need new ones.

He said it was rebuilt by the previous owner some time in the 90s so chances of getting info on that are slim to none. I checked the tires and they look really good. No evidence of cracking. Good idea on setting a few prices ahead of time. I didn't even think of that.
Thanks for the info!

structural components is the first thing to check. Engine bulkhead also. Check the basement prior to the upper floor. These busses in perfect shape, are very rare on the road .

You can't go by the appearance of the tires. Check the date codes. Even tires that look perfect can come apart. Still, long as you can get it home, it's going to take you awhile to make it usable and the tires can be replaced later before putting it on the road.

Okay update on the front end. The steering steup is out of a military truck of about the same vintage. Maybe a "Deuce and a half?" He found the truck in a junk yard and the measurements were similar. The pump and plumbing was done by a tractor shop in town (i am in Ellensburg, farm country) and is pto driven off the engine. The only issue is that the steering shaft has a clearance issue and rubs causing a jump, which shouldnt be too hard to fix. The rest of the front end is off an MCI. He said the measurements of that were nearly identical and didnt really require modification. What do you guys think?
Thanks,
Hunter

If it works, and you know what parts are involved, and the alignment and steering response is okay, and the tires wear well - then okay. You will have good cobbling bragging rights, but there is still the rest of the coach to be concerned about.   :)

I would pay particular attention to that interference issue. Deep experience with custom assemblies tells me that it may not be nearly as simple to fix as it sounds, or it would have already been done. Something will have to be cut away that really shouldn't be, or a mount will have to be repositioned which then requires all the attached linkages to be refabricated or something like that. All the components may be perfect but that doesn't mean it is OK.

Any updates on this project?  I'm in the market for a 4151 or 3751 myself.
