If you are short of baggage compartment space, you could use one of those compact dual tank unit, and install it under an ac shroud.

That is great.  Let me ask you.  Can the scuba tank be replenished with any old air compressor or the bus air?  Or do have to go have it refilled somewhere?

Or better yet a SCUBA tank. That's right, a SCUBA tank. Holds over 93 cu ft of air @ over 3500 psi. When dropped down to 100 psi by the first stage of any standard SCUBA regulator there's enough air to run the whole bus down hilling using brakes for a long long time. We're gonna put one in besides the aux. Electric compressor cause we love redundancy... No need to start engine nor aux. compressor with the genny, just a whole lotta air in one small compact cylinder...

93 cu ft of air? I doubt it would last long enough if you could get the volume you would need for backup. Plus, the cost of refill. Might as well go with a welding oxygen tank. At least if you couldn't make it up a hill, you could have someone knock the valve off with a big hammer. The extra boost ought to do it.😲

Unless you own a compressor that can pump 3500 psi the only way I know to fill a SCUBA tank is at a dive shop and most if not all of them would require a SCUBA certification card. Yes knocking off the valve on a full SCUBA tank makes an awesome rocket but very hard to control... My intent would be to use it intermittently when I didn't want to fire the engine nor the Genny for building air - in that respect the tank could last a very long time. I once used a Scott Hydro Pack (1750 psi used by fire depts.) To run from the south end of the NJ turnpike to northern CT during an engine compressor failure. Tank was more than 1/2 full when I finished. It was raining but didn't run the air wipers

Look for the big tank from some buses that have air starters.

Back to the fast idle,on a 4104 they are easy to setup using a 12v mini or micro servo actuator they sell for around 50 bucks. I just add a bracket on the throttle arm at the governor a little wiring with a momentary toggle switch and you are done with a system you can adjust the speed you desire
