Novel heater option

Something like this could work in some spot heating situations. Seems like 8kw(28k btu) would heat an enclosed bedroom or maybe even engine compartment. Cheap enough for experimenting. Might work for an off-grid structure like a shed or cabin.

OR, you could spend less than 50 bucks and get a block heater.
If you get that heater, I would at least, buy two in case one quits. Too bad Harbor Freight doesn't sell them. You could get an extended warranty or get feed back on how they hold up.

They also sell them on Amazon, so easy to send back if it doesn't work out of the box. There is a fair number of videos on this heater on YouTube.

However this is a diesel air heater and I am going for a hydrontic system myself.

Was around Espar Heaters many moons ago, diesel fired, 12 volt, looked alot like this. Didn't hold up running up and down rough oilfield roads. They are pretty fragile internally. In a smooth riding bus they probably would have worked. I'm sure they are built better today.

Run one of these in my race trailer. Worked O.K. so far this year. Some early summer nights and fall events get quite cool. (My sleeping quarters at the track) The trailer is not insulated and I installed the heater just to take the chill off, NOT to heat a 24' trailer in -35f weather. Not too sure if I would depend on it for that.
One thing I did do though was to run kerosene rather than diesel. Even the burner unit on $1300.00 Espars clog up enough to teach me to use a "clean" fuel source. My use is limited so it should last me for years. I run 2 100w solar panels that keep the lights and heater fan running even if it is a rainy weekend.

Speaking of heat, something that surprised me. My 1st son has that 31' S&S right, which he is full-timing with. Last week we had a little cold weather for a change and he went out and bought half a dozen space blankets and a bunch of velcro tabs. Using the tabs, he lined his ceiling with the space blankets, trimming out for lights and such, did the whole MH end to end. That kept it warm enough inside that he had to open the door to let some heat out once the sun began shining in the windows. I never took those seriously. Guess I'll have to change my opinion. Apparently they are "tuned" to reflect radiation in the infrared range. Much more effective in essentially dead air than I would have ever thought.

Don that looks pretty good. Only thing that does not make sense in the install of it is, it said to install it horizontally with the outlet facing down?
