Well we set off Friday for a weekend stay at Sun-n-Fun RV resort in Sarasota, Florida. Just Jan and I were planning to go, but we wound up with some uninvited guests. Love bugs. Yes that wonderful gift of a science experiment from the Univ. of Fla. a bug that was designed to eat mosquito larvae and therefore rid us of those pesky stinging f*&*&*ers. Well turns out the Love bug that they invented doesn't even like to eat mosquito larvae. They just make love, then they make love, and while they are resting they make more love. Of course all that love brings about little love bugs.

Well they were out in rare form this weekend. The first picture shows us just turning out onto I-75 were didn't get 150 yards and we had bugs on the windshield. The next picture shows the windshield after 1 hour of driving. At certain points the bugs are so profuse they hit the windshield like driving rain. The windshield washer and wipers do not work on these critters, it just smusshes them up more. You are better to leave them and clean off when you arrive. Oh yeah, another added bonus, if you leave them on your paint over night, an acid in their bodies eats through the paint on your car so you have all these little acne spots when you do clean up.

The last shot is our coach at home. It took me two hours to pressure clean those bugs off.

Just another day in Paradise. Welcome to South Florida.

Wow, what a mess, arn't you glad we have modern science to cure our problems? lol  A couple of years ago while going thru OshKosh Wisconsin, I saw what looked like smoke hanging in the air over the road, turned out to be swarms of bugs, I guess at times they come in from over Lake Michigan in swarms and just blanket the area, was a mess for us too cleaning it all up.

If you ain't part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.

We took the car last weekend, at least it was easier to clean than the bus.  Ace, if we get in right behind your bus and "draft" would that keep our car clean?  Could be worse, those nasty little creatures could also bite.  Jack

Jack I don't think drafting would help though when buscrazyinfl was in front of me I got less love bugs upon our arrival than what I had after I had the lead when going home!

Problem is as stated on the other thread about traveling too close! One time while following I was about 3-4 car lengths behind and a quick red light brought us to a stop. After that, I gave more than enough room to stop! I actually knew better but being the first time together was exciting and I didn't want that 8v71 auto Eagle to pull too far ahead!  ::)

So what doesn't bite down there??  I still have scars on my leg from that damn ant that bit me in December! Took about 6 weeks to stop hurting and another 3 or 4 weeks for them to heal.

Wow ... and I thought I had it bad with bugs on the front of the bus ... but nothing like that. Someone needs to invent a good bug remover that you could spray on and wash the bugs off. They're a b*t#h to get off.

When they're that bad the best thing is to SARAN Wrap your front end and peel it off after you've run the gauntlet - They're not out at night, so midnight runs are better - HTH
