I couldn't find my earlier thread about this, so here's the update to the quest for a rubber boot for the reverse solenoid that would last. The last few that I've gotten are actually tie rod end boots, and they don't take kindly to being folded over themselves as is required to mount them on the reverse solenoid.

This solution was done using a piece of inner tube cut from a bicycle tube (16 inch x 2.35/3.0)

One end of the piece of tube was held into the middle of the connecting shaft with a zip-tie, then the rubber was folded over itself to cover the zip-tie. The other end is held in place using the OEM clamp.

Slightly different mounting than the OEM, but I think that it will work to keep the dirt/dust out of the solenoid. Unless someone points out a problem with this setup, I'll keep it in place for the rest of the season and see how it holds up.

Richard,

Strangely, when I rebuilt mine, I resorted to the exact same thing!
