There is no reason to murder batteries anymore.

Those trapped in a remote storage facility simply need a PROPER 50 watt solar panel and associated small charge controller to keep the batteries in top shape. No fan of anything that a box store or common retailer is selling... all junk intended to make them tons of money, and let you down with inferior equipment for the dollars spent.

They sell packages exactly for this purpose.

Years ago, I got one of their 50 watt panels with a morningstar controler to match, for battery maintenance purposes. Came as a package.

we switched from 2 8d's to 2 31's at least 5 years ago.  They still work fine.  The caveat is that we have an 8v71 and use a block heater if it is at all cold.
