DC electrical question

Hey guys,

I am getting ready to address the DC systems on the bus.  I have an inverter already.  My question is: Do I have to have a seperate DC electrical panel for everything on the bus that is DC or is there another way to do this?  If so, what type of panel and fuses could be used and where might I get one?

Hi Danny,

Yes, you need a DC panel but it depends on what kind of panel you choose to be able to have both DC and AC breakers in the same inclosure.

For instance, if you are using a home type AC panel, I wouldn't reccomend trying to add DC in it. If you are using a marine panel with carling breakers

[I think, well worth the money] then they usually are layed out to handle both. If using a home type, you can choose a seprate panel with fuses if you like.

I'm sure the panel will be determined by the load that you require, so start adding up all your load requirements and go from there!
