I have been informed that I need to rebuild my air compressor on my bus.
The interior over the engine can't be removed without a ton of money and work.

Can the compressor be removed from the engine compartment without going through the bedroom floor?

With the tightness of the 5, I would try to do the work from above. The air compressor isn't exactly light, and reinstalling is going to be a challenge to line up with the rear gear drive, then hook up the air lines, etc. Much easier from above. Even though you have to rip apart some stuff, maybe this would be a good time to redesign your back so you can more easily get to everything next time. Good Luck, TomC

5's have about 3/4" behind the compressor to get it out. Luke told me they pull the engine forward a bit by 5 to 8 inches to make it easier to access. Others have pulled the engine out because there were a few oil leaks they wanted to get to. :) There are actually two holes on the 5's. One on top of the engine step and one on the floor both nearly impossible to work through but if you have to it is possible.
One day I want to cut out some of the cross pieces that might not be needed and make a bigger opening like the eagle guys do. 8)
