I arrived at the Flxible Rally at Joshua Tree, CA yesterday. About 11 buses here so far.  They also allow SOB (Some Other Buses) so no matter what type of bus you have, come on over.  We are still in the pre-rally stage and the official rally starts tomorrow January 10th. Come on over and pick up a free copy of Bus Conversion Magazine and check out the buses.

For more information about this rally and others, check out our Events page here: https://www.busconversionmagazine.com/events/

Oh, and by the way, the sunsets are beautiful here.

Think I will drive over there friday just to check it out.  Bus is not quite ready for the road.
Needs grease and a few odds and ends.  Getting ready for the "Q".

Gary, I hope you guys are safe, with the rowdy campers driving off road, starting fires, breaking off locks and that someone who cut down a Joshua tree, to drive in a restricted area...

Shows the mentality or like of when people destroy the parks or whatever just because there is not anybody to stop them. Very sad what this world is coming to. Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but foot prints.

Humans are born ignorant and take a long time to learn. Some never do. Takes a lot of guidance along the way and providing that is a skill and an art. Probably that is the skill we should be teaching.

I saw it on the Internet. It MUST be true...

This is just a couple of miles from my house and somehow I completely missed knowing it was going on.  Sometimes I am amazed by how oblivious I can be. Oh well!

I will note that the town has changed a lot over the last two years.  Structurally, it looks the same, but we have become trendy with the benighted souls of Los Angeles and other metropolitan areas.  This has created long lines to get into the park, waiting lines at eateries, a plague of Airbnb rentals degrading neighborhoods, and a constant influx of selfie Millennials.  I really do not know who did the damage in the park but would not be surprised if it was these perpetual juveniles.

I was in Joshua Tree State Park yesterday and I saw no trash or vandalism. I think the media is making a mountain out of a molehill. It was very clean and I saw no trash or off-road tracks at all.  I talked to a sheriff who took his kids there last weekend and he saw nothing either. The restrooms were very clean as well.  Sure there was probably some issues, but we never saw it.  Apparently some fo the local businesses are going in and taking care of it.

It is very nice now and entrance is free during the government shutdown.  This will save you $30 for a 7-day permit. They just ask you at the gate to respect the park and pack out what you pack in.

No offense...but that tree clearly was not cut or pushed down. It fell from rot...and it happens all the time. Unless they are using a saw that makes a cut as pictured lol  I have many friends in the area that have confirmed they have seen no evidence of cut locks of vandalism and say the problems they have seen have been as minimal as they always were.

As far as the meet...man..I really hope to make it down there sometime. Looks like a ton of fun.

Nice photos Gary. Joshua Tree has always been near & dear to us when we were in the area. I hear Lin loud & clear! Back in the 80s there (So Cal) it was said that the LA smog obscures clear views of Grand Canyon NP 150 days out of a year... The So Cal friends of mine would say they wouldn't (couldn't) breath anything they couldn't see! Lol. Wonder if it got better or worse since then.

The smog situation has vastly improved since the 1980's even in LA itself.  CA can be known to be over enthusiastic about regulations, but they have had some successes too.

Nice pictures Gary. I particularly like the last one of the famous Almost Upside Down Rock Face.

I am glad you are all enjoying the photos, even if they are upside down.  Sorry about that, but I have a poor connection where I am right now in Quartzsite.
