OK, that is why, on my recent trip to Quebec, I went through Canada Customs at the end of I-87 (upstate New York, near Plattsburgh) with two BlueBird school buses.  They were obviously new, had Indiana "Manufacturer's Transport" plates, and were painted the French translation of "Stop for Flashing Red Lights".

All of the skookie builders are now beginning to offer 100% electric versions of their buses.
Time will indeed tell if they will be accepted or if they will flop.
Hehe if they would only wire the seat with enough harmless voltage to keep the little brats from misbehaving, that would be a nice bonus. :)

when they decide to put a small on board diesel generator that would recharge the batteries without the worry of driving distance or ever having to plug it in
then it might make a nice shell for a conversion

Well that's where a hybrid would be ideal.
I don't think any of the 3 skoolie builders offer one at this time.

Most bus conversions (except mine 8))now have a generator. I suspect with picking the right equipment this might be a doable thing.
