What I found interesting about this was the fuel gauge. It's mounted inside the door by the fuel filler. Was this an option? Or did the company running the coach just not want to hassle with running the wires all the way to the dash?

My GMC RTS had the option of a fuel gauge at the tank.., but not on the dash.  I put one on the dash.

wonder which transmission it has,you see lots of fuel gauges on buses inside the filler door, there are 2 very late model Vanhools here that have 1 on the dash and 1 inside the fuel compartment I don't know what purpose that serves unless it is to watch the filling by the driver ?

Yes, the fuel gauge was an option on GMC coaches, and yes, they put them inside the fuel filler door.  My old 4106 had one, for example, and it was noted on the FVR of the bus, too.
