Selling bus stuff from my collection

Fellow busnuts:  I just posted some bus stuff for sale on eBay from my collection.  From the eBay home screen, click on the Advanced option next to the main search button.  On the next page, in the LH column click on the "By Seller" option, then type "stuffbyrj" (w/o the quotes) in the "Enter Seller's ID" box.  Click on the "Search" button, and my items will populate.

I'm just getting started doing this eBay thing, thought I'd begin with some easy stuff first.  I've got more bus goodies in my storage unit, not to mention a rather large inventory of NOS Chevy Corvair parts, none of which are cataloged, unfortunately.  So maybe you might find something you like, maybe not.  Hopefully, somebody will.  Thanks for your support.

Nice stuff you are selling. Advice from a eBay junkie: add words like Greyhound or Trailways to your auction titles. That way folks that are searching directly for those terms, find your items quickly. I usually do not browse the entire buses and taxi collectible sections any more. I search for key words...Scenicruiser, scenic cruiser, grayhound, greyhound lines, greyhound bus, etc. The searches are case sensitive, and will only find items based on the exact spelling entered. It will try to correct a searcher, like "Grayhound bus", it will ask,,,did you mean "Greyhound bus"? I select no to do a more complete search. I have found some interesting items over the years, based on sellers spelling mistakes. Good luck buddy. Take care.

Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it.  This eBay thing is new to me, so I'm in a learning curve.  Thought I'd start with the easy stuff first as I attempt to clean out my storage unit.  Besides some bus stuff, I've got a bunch of NOS and used Chevy Corvair parts that I think collectors will be interested in.  Let the adventure begin!

One other tip is start bidding a zero rather than fixed. It encourages more bidders and once a bid is placed that person is now engaged so will watch and likely bid up over time. For example, I was going to bid on the MC8 operator manual but did not as it was set $25 min. I'd surely throw a bid on at $5 or $10 and get it on my radar. You can put a reserve on it but generally stuff sells at what it's worth due to the immense eyeballs eBay reaches, especially if you put plenty of keywords in there to catch all lookers.

Seriously consider Craigslist. No fees and I've had excellent results over the years. Also one can check for Craigslist items for sale all over the country with Adhuntr.

CL has zero authentication and full of cracks. Not that you can not sell on CL, it's just you have many more risks, especially if doing business via courier/post. There is zero recourse. With eBay, you have a far better idea about the buyer via the length of their account, numver of transactions, feedback ratings, etc. Plus, there is a process for dealing with transactions gone bad. Not that its perfect but far better than CL.
If you find a local buyer on CL, you stand a fair chance of making a fair and safe deal. Meet in a public place and get cash and go. I'm sure folks trading in bus stuff are not the typical folks selling hot phones or tools, etc.

Some people can be paranoid about dealing with craiglist. I had a neighbor that wanted to sell an older car and I suggested cl. The wife was concerned some stranger might show up and murder them. You can control how you are contacted by buyer and make arrangements how to handle transaction. It is also probably dependent on where you live. You don't have to deal with negative feedback or cancelled or reversed payments from Paypal. Do some research about vendor gripes. Overall, they both are handy. I've heard about records of business transactions can require irs reporting by vendors. Don't know particulars so just info. Overall, they both have their good and bad points.
