I don't think the debate should be whether ether is safe or not. I've used it a bajillion times without issue. But honestly, with straight 40w oil, should we really torture our engines with a couple of dry piston strokes before that thick as molasses oil starts flowing when it's cold out? I think not. Do the engine a favor and just get a heater.

Check out this awesome demonstration of oil flow in the cold....and imagine your 40wt flowing ever slower!!!

Forgot to mention we also are equipped with the 2000 watt Jimmy Heet block heater, it's nice to have choices & alternatives. :-)

May be simpler to update ether injector to current version.

If you don't want to install an electric block heater, then get a 500w halogen light and the night before you're going to start the engine, place the light below the oil pan shinning on the oil pan. It will heat the engine sufficiently to make engine starting more friendly. Good luck, TomC

Sounds like he doesn't have electricity where the coach is kept.

I used a heat gun pointed at the oil pan for 5 hours and coach started right up at 10°F

Ditto. In the very least to ensure a correctly metered application.
