Arcadia?? Is it history? Will it ever happen again?

Gary Hatt - Publisher BCM

The big Arcadia rally will only happen again if someone steps up to the plate to take it over. We thought Bill Miller of Carlisle Events was going to do it year after year, but after the first year he dropped out. So if you know anyone interested in taking it over, call Bill at (717) 215-0700 and he will provide you all of the information you will need.

In the meantime, there is a rally going on in Lakeland, FL now and several people went there.  Check it our on our Rally page http://busconversionsstore.com/rally-news/

Who knows once a rally stops it is a tough job to make it work again, those rallies are lot of work for the rewards and the host takes a hit on the money in the end even with the best of planning maybe somebody will give it try though.
It has been in decline for several years that could play apart in another host taking it over also.the smaller non structured rallies seem to be the wave now that is the type we attend now they are more laid back which I like better

Just what work is entailed when putting together a bus rally?

I have thought about doing a small on right at a little rv park right at the entrance to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.

A lot of planning and coordination getting all the ducks in row like insurance coverage to protect you since it is your baby and you need volunteers to help.
I had a great group but I never want to do another one when I live in AZ and our rally was in Breaux Bridge Louisiana 1500 miles from home. There were about 40 buses most were from the west coast,  a few from the east coast, the Rockies and the Northwest.
It was a fun time at the craw fish festival in Breaux Bridge along with Wayne cooking the craw fish and Majors doing the breakfast every day lol I actually came out 5 bucks to good on it but still cost me 700 bucks in fuel

To get an idea what's involved in hosting a rally, check out the "rally guide for hosts" on the website of the Southeast Bus Nuts ( www.SEbusnuts.org).  it's an orange box in the lower third of the home page, near future rally dates.
The rally we held this weekend in Lakeland FL attracted some 23 coaches not counting 3 cancellations due to health. We had a great time and and even picked up a few folks who would have gone to Arcadia.
