Loose lug nut indicators

I think they are great. You can tell at a glance if you have a problem. Just my two cents worth. Raymond

We used a dinky thin hobby paint brush and ran a radial black thin paint stripe over the studs and lug nuts.  The lug nuts were painted silver.   The wheels red.  Years ago.  Fire Department.

Yea, very ugly and industrial looking. Just put a wrench on the nuts on a regular basis to make sure they are torqued right. Or a little paint mark like HB says. Once torqued twice, they usually don't move again.

Seems like trash trucks use them a lot.

Everything from panel vans upwards use them here - certainly everything remotely heavy operated by commercial or civil operators

Indicators still allow the nut to loosen.

There are lug locks available now. The plastic links pairs of lugs. Here's a local supplier to me:"Zafety Lug Lock"

If you have steel wheels, rust stains will show loose lug nuts

Can you use those on stud pilot wheels I never saw those on anything except a hub pilot wheels

torque-tight.com & wheel-check.com are two manufacturers, I'm sure they will have more info, I was only interested in the black color, tom...
Update: Clifford,  according to Wheel-check lady, they work on both stud and hub, just different sizes. Tom...

Clifford, they slip over the nut. They don't go between the nut and the wheel.
