80 GMC has to be 24 volt. Cliff, do you know if the newer lighter gear reduction starter is available for the GMCs? Thanks.

I wonder how many starters are burned up from trying to start with bad or weak batteries.

For a long time, I've said that the best way to kill a good battery is to use it to power a bad starter and the best way to kill a good starter is to power it with a bad battery.  *Both* of them have to be in good shape to last a long time.

I have a jumper solenoid to connect the 2-size 31 starting batteries with my 2-8D Lifeline AGM house batteries. This serves two purposes. One to charge the house batteries going down the road, and to jump the starting batteries if you need help starting.
The starter used for the V730 is a left handed starter, and make sure it is sealed because the bell housing is wet with transmission fluid. Good Luck, TomC
