How do they work if two of four batteries are weaker than other two. Will it cause issues with their charging?

Yes. The four batteries will show an average voltage, resulting in a lower voltage showing to the inverter. This will cause the inverter to think they are lower than what the two strong batteries are really at, and will therefore overcharge them.

which is pretty much what all chargers will do, inverter not a factor.
