Does anyone in Austin have a spare? Were parked next to a hotel at the 183 and 290 junction. Any help would be great.

I bet you will have a spare in the future .>>>Dan (seems to be a common problem with MCIs)

I replaced mine a few months ago. I think I had 15 years on it. Still good condition, but I figured I was playing with fire on the time.

I checked NAPA and while they could get it, and even had one at one of the local stores, it was about $20 more expensive ($85 if I recall correctly) than my regular bus parts source. Maybe check NAPA. They should be open today.

Napa told me they have a belt in San Antonio, and it could be delivered by 2 tomorrow. I think Ill have better luck at the truck supply store in the morning...

I would have NAPA get that one on the way, just in case. Typically doesn't cost anything to have it sent store to store even if you end up not buying it. They just put it back in stock. I think that size belt would be unusual on a semi. More of an AG application outside of buses, I think.

Hey Craig, how hard is that belt to install? Are there any tricks to it?

Dave5Cs

Pretty easy. Lower the pulley with the air release under it and it will drop down. Push the belt back through the hole you took it out of and up onto the pulley Make sure you first put it back into the correct groove on the lower pulley . Sometimes I have to use a pry bar to drop the pulley a little to get the belt over it or put it on one side and turn the pulley as it ride itself on to it. Turn your air valve for the upper pulley back on and it will raise the pulley back up. Check the adjustment of the air valve to make sure the belt doesn t come back off . Done HTH

Mine doesnt seem to have any kind of air release, just a few linkages with zerks on them. Is that what youre talking about?

That's a turnbuckle Brian. I have one on mine. Someone got rid of the air cylinder. Loosen the nuts a then put a wrench on the turn buckle body and loosen it. Spray it tonight with PB Blaster tho. Our belts are really long, you will not find that at a truck  place

What engine do you have? I might be able to figure out the belt length

What Dave and Scott said.  With the turnbuckle, you should have no problem, but may need to put a pry bar on the blower drive frame and pull it down to get the belt over the top of the pulley, although that turnbuckle might prevent that, in which case you might have to remove the knuckle bolt on the turn buckle. Make sure you don't over tighten that turnbuckle. The belt should have about 1" flap movement side to side when running.

Thanks Craig. I went out and sprayed oil all over that turnbuckle. Hopefully those jam nuts will cooperate when the time comes to move them.
