Got engine hoist hooked to tranny for a pull & things turned really Shitty!

Yesterday just as I got the engine hoist hooked to the tranny for a pull my, daughter-in-law (who temp resides in our basement with our younger son & grand daughter) comes up to me and says she cant get the toilet to flush & when she plunges weird sounds are coming from the sink & tub drains. Oh crap I thought & told her not to run any more waste to the basement plumbing... To make a long story short I attached a photo of the setup & spent the last two days performing a repair on a lift station that resides under our porch just outside the basement wall (@ 3' in diameter & over 10' deep) that collects all the waste from the basement and a dump site in the front yard about a 100' away. when retrieving a price on a Meyers sewage pump with a 1987 date on the still legible plate @ over $500 I proceeded to inspect further why this pump that spun & had a good impeller wasn't doing squat. It ended up being an air lock in the impeller housing due to a clogged "weep hole". Wala, a lot of shitty work vacuuming out all the sediment & reinstalling the pump we now again have $#!% running up hill. Its related to bus work because it was a prerequisite to pulling the tranny. It all reminded me of the joke about when the butt hole closes down it becomes the boss of the whole works real fast. Thank for letting me bore you with this $#!%! Back to the tranny on Monday...

I once worked a temp job(during a little labor dispute ) at a local very large heavy equipment manufacturer(thinks yellow) as a mechanic.  One time I had to remove a grinder pump from a tank of you-know-what to fix or replace it.  It turns out the pump was bound by the waistband of the remains of a pair of blue jeans.  Now for the shocker---this tank only serviced the WOMENS restroom!

Back in college days, I worked as an island gas jockey at a full service gas station-remember those? The ones that windshields were hand washed with blue paper towels and a squirt bottle, hood was checked, tires were checked all for free?
One job was cleaning the bathrooms. I can tell you, the women's was always way more messy than the men's. And on a hot summer day-the stink! The only thing was typical with men's-not aiming well with the urinal. Always amazed me. Good Luck, TomC

yeah, jimmy killed full service with the energy crisis. A couple years ago, we got an old school full service station. costs the same. If I go in there I just want to pump my own and get out of there. Have no idea what's it like to have the luxury of time to enjoy the extra service.  Just give me gas!! LOL
