Hello,

looking for a part/model number for the fuel shut off solenoid.  mine is starting to pass air.  I  would like to replace the one mounted on the engine that trips the fuel rail and the solenoid that supplies it.

Thanks in advance

Are you sure it has gone bad. If somthing has happen to the wire from the switch it will start up and then shut off pertty quick. Test the wiring first at the solenoid.
Has the bus been rewired or are you dealing with 50 year old wiring. I had new wires that had been hooked up to the 1956 wire harness. Best of luck to you.

If it is leaking any amount it would not shut down, but keep running. I think>

air is pushing past the plunger on the (head) it's not to the point the plunger won't actuate.  I replaced the wiring to the solenoid.  Just trying to stay ahead of the it won't trip the fuel rail problem.  thanks for asking

Google sez: "The standard shut down valve is Skinner part number  V51DA2150 and you have to specify the coil voltage and if dc or AC. The letter "D" will change if you have to have a special electrical connection."

That's from this forum many years ago.  No idea if it's correct or not...   I personally would just call Luke and order one.  The air cylinder probably just needs a new seal or o-ring.

i agree it's probably an o-ring on the cylinder.  Who is Luke? and would and would (he? or them) have the solenoid.
mine has the mil-spec style connection and I would prefer to keep it.

Simple to repair plunger air leak. Take it apart and replace seal. All devices in air brake system and most air actuated devices were designed to be rebuilt . Luke can get most items or stocks them.

Who is Luke? I've never met the man, but his knowledge is the best and he will more than likely have the parts also. If not he will recomend where to get them or tell you if you have to come up with another solution. I wish there were more Luke's out there.
