If you have a turbo engine you are supposed to have breathers on the valve covers.  Do you have steel or aluminum covers now?  Do you have barely enough valve cover clearance now?  Need to know...

Yes it is a turbo 6v92 silver but no breathers - but it was a an engine from a Navy training stand for rebuilding allison automatics.

Meaning I dont think it was ever on the road.

Should I add tall covers with breathers?

I have plenty of room to add tall valve covers.

8925269 valves covers are for the 6v53 engines they won't work, you need valve covers with the vent on the side of valve covers for a V drive engine the covers with the breather vents in the top are for the T drive engine that set up right

The Turbo engines always have breathers because of the extra crankcase pressure.  It helps the engine seals from leaking.  I put Jakes covers on my 6V92TA and I had to get the breathers on the RB to clear the exhaust on the inside, and LB to stay out of the way of the engine compartment door.  And of course the oil fill needed to be on the LB.

What is the serial number of your engine (out of curiosity)

Thanks!

Any idea where I can get the correct tall covers with breathers?

I have a set of 8V92 Jakes that came off a government vehicle... I don't know much about them but they look to be in good condition.

Long story short, we are selling our bus and would sell the set to you if you want them. I can take pictures of them for you. We paid $416.50 shipped. It would be nice to get our money back on them.

They were sold under the title: Detroit Diesel 8v92 Series Jake Brake (ONLY) complete system 24 volts

The original ad is no longer up on eBay. I am not sure if these are the exact ones you are looking for. Like I said, happy to take pictures and shoot them to you if you are interested.

This is the eBay store we bought them from (another ad for Jacobs Brakes they are selling, exactly what we bought from them):

If you want them we can give you a better deal so at least we get some money back and you save more money. $325 shipped?

So I bought Bjorn's Jake Brake parts and it did have the mechanical buffer switch.

Should I get a solid state buffer switch?

All of the 6v92t flixable engine packages I have seen have solid valve covers with no vents - as mine does

Do I need to convert to vented valve covers??

Any idea where to source two tall valve covers?

Thanks!
