I had a hitch installed over the weekend.  They didn't anticipate a 24V system and did not have DC Convertor Regulators, so the electrical portion is not installed.  I have basic electrical knowledge.  Is this something the average joe can wire, and if so, are there any directions (that could be applied to a bus) that you know of online?

Using 4-24v relays, make your own. (right, left, stop, running). Just need to use continuous duty relays. Good Luck, TomC

From Eagles board and BCM 24V to 12 V conversion.

This is good but I have two questions.

1)  The Del City relay is a 5-pin (combo NO/NC) while the Digi-Key is a 4-pin (NO).  I don't think that this makes any difference, but comments??   It appears that the "main" brake light relay needs to be a 5-pin; the other three may get away with being a 4-pin; 5-pin would work OK but would be overkill, I think.

2)  The blue relay arrangement drawing is pretty much unreadable on the PDF (oh, I'll tell you, I hate PDFs worse than I hate bad beer).  Anybody have a clear copy of that diagram?

(PS  ---  This is a good layout.  It converts from 5 circuits to 4.  For instance, if you turn on your Right turn signal, going down the road, it flashes the 21W bulb in the right trailer (or toad) light.  If you apply the brakes (no turn signal), it switches on the brake lights or both 21W bulbs.
If you apply the brakes and the right turn signal, it will switch on the brake lights in both bulbs but flash the right 21W bulb.  That way your toad lights only need to have a simple 7/21W double bulb on each side. )

The turn signal relays will also need to be 5 pin (no and nc combo) if the bus has seperate stop and turn signal lights and you are converting to a single stop/turn configuration for the trailer.

Another simple idea is to use portable magnetic trailer lights, keep the wiring 24v, and put 24v bulbs in the trailer lights.  24v bulbs are more expensive, but are still available.

Our MCi 5 C has seperate turns and brake lights. I ran 4 wire off the converter with 4 Bosch relys. 4 wire connecters at both ends on bus and front of jeep. Ran the wires through the frame to the back and into the tail light housing to an extra 1157 bulb and socket I installed inside the housing. Signals work off the bus as do the runners. The brake works off a surge brake and activates when I stop the bus or use the bus brake. It will activate by cable to the jeep brake peddle and turns on the normal light in same housing.

When the converter in our bus quit, I went with Gumpy's design and haven't had a problem since. FWIW
