So at that point I would have ask for his Mechanics number to talk to him. Bet he wouldn't have that available at the moment. LOL
Should of asked him to take a picture of the lower pulley where it says 8V92 on it eh

So now with a most likely determined 8v71 and manual trans, back to points 1 and 3. Overpriced lol.

I wouldn't pay that for something with that many variables would you... I do think if he in fact has it and I was in the market I would go look at  it to really see what it had in it. But I am not and won't ever be again..... ;D

Don't know boys, there's a southwind rv down the road from me and they are asking $21,000 bucks for it. Don't look as good as this one. At least you could drive this to the deer lease and have a tiny house for life when it quit. Better than a camper.  ;D

Looks pretty nice to me for $25000 asking price. You can't say it is overpriced until you go see it and find out it is all worn out and leaking and neglected. Just the new tires and brakes is worth that much. If I was looking for a converted bus, I would go look at it. Looks like a reasonable asking price for what I see.

JC where do you get your tires and brakes done. I am not going there. 2,200.00 for tires and if I had them done what maybe 2,000.00

I live in Roseville and I don't want to go see it, LOL

Well, So much yik-yak on this one got me to send inquiry about documentation/invoices on all that new stuff and rebuilt engine. Not all that interested but will be in Sac tomorrow, so never know if I might swing by, at least to confirm what mill is in that thing.

Dave, my senior brain must've been thinking $2500. Anyway, I still think it would be worth considering for someone looking for a bus. What if it is rust free and in excellent shape...

JC just kiddin yas.  Ya my original intent when I saw the ad was like I said maybe there is someone looking for a Bus Conversion that might want to look at it. It looked good to me other than the miss information which popped out at us all. I did email him but never got anything back from him. If it was all right the price might be well worth it. Maybe just me but most stuff on craigslist has a story good bad or indifferent. I have 49 ads in there myself right now and spend most of the time weeding people out who are trying to steal my phone number or trying to get it for free etc etc etc. But hey who knows it might of been Ike's Bus during the elections way back and the government through money away in it for all new parts and upgrade every 3 years with an open ended certificate to have new tires put on it every 2 years and a new paint job to boot?!.... ;) I believe thinking positive always works better.....Just me I guess.... ;D

Hey Dave,

Thanks for the information. I'm correcting the ad.
I did a little more research after I received several inquiries.
It's 35 ft, (not sure the width 96")has an 8v71 and I'm not sure the make of the transmission at the moment. I will let you know as soon as I know.
Also, 7000 watt Honda Power Boss (12,000 peak)
1500 watt converter  (3000 peak)
40 gallon (pvc?)fresh water tank/20gal greytank/40gal black water tank.
The grey and black water tanks are standard rv holding tanks.

Best Regards,

Ian

More details.

Hi Don,

I have owned the bus for 3 years.
I wanted to take it across the country and tour the national parks like the previous owner intended, but I don't have the finances.

I've driven it to go camping from Sacramento to Sonoma Coast and I've driven it to go camping from Sacramento to the Redwoods by Garberville in Northern California.

It's a strong runner and it's a pleasure to drive with the power steering, new tires and brakes.

There are a bunch of receipts and photo albums inside the bus, documenting the conversion they did.
I'm sure the receipts for the engine are there too.
I will look for them.

Also, Ted Campbell at Coach Maintenance, one hour north of Sacramento, has approved this vehicle.

Ted is basically the number one authority on MCI Coach Transit on earth at this point in time. He knows everything about buses and works on them every day.

No joke, he owns 75 buses and he knows everything about all of them, all the way down to the rivet.

He's located off the side of the I-5, north of Sacramento in Williams California.

The previous owner had done the final round of maintenance at Ted's shop before he put it on the market and Ted said he completely approved this vehicle.

Based on his expert opinion, I bought it without question and have enjoyed it ever since.

It runs like a champ and the interior/exterior is in excellent condition.

I am out of town until the beginning of next week, but if you are interested we can arrange for a meeting.

Next Tuesday or Wednesday works for me, and I can push some things around towards the end of the week possibly.

Thanks for your inquiry, if there are any more questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you.

Best regards,

Ian

The owner emailed me back and said he was wrong--. that the engine was actually an 8V71.  So the mystery ends.

Don good yep you can see above what he told me. Never said anything about Ted though. Interesting and most of us know how ted is and yes he is one of the people in the know on the West Coast as is Luke B on the East Coast, Also Gary Bennet in Las Vegas  and others. Last I heard Ted is having some Health issues and may be closing shop sometime soon. But if he has papers from Ted saying it is a healthy Bus and you can get a hold of ted to check it out it may be real. ;D

I have never seen this bus in person, but I do know the owner. It was "approved" on purchase by Ted Campbell of Coach Maintenance in Williams, Ca. For those of you who know Ted, you could say he knows his stuff. I believe it is a stock MC5, although it may have an auto trans ( whatever would fit, you tell me) #217 of 266 ever built originally delivered to SF. Western Car! The main issue would be that it has sat. I would take a close look at all the usual points of failure on the 5s. I do know that it started up no problem the other day. No sticky injectors, etc. Happy Shopping.
