There was some discussion long ago about two bar and three bar sensors but I'm not sure if it related to performance enhancing in the PSI range of our turbos. Geoff can you share more? Ken Arnold said I was suffering from low boost. We don't have a single boost leak anywhere. That's been checked thoroughly. My air filter is brand new. And the turbo spins freely no fin damage at all. No leaks in manifolds at all. New fuel filters and fuel has been turned up a bit in the parameters. 12 psi seems to be my boost max. That isn't quite right. So I'm wanting to replace my sensor and the tubing. Cliff, we remove the bypass to clean it? Not trying to hijack this, the answers given help both me and the original poster.

Scott, the boost should be around 20 lbs,if you have any restrictions down stream on the exhaust system they won't boost and your piping should be at least 5 inch from the hot side of the turbo to the tip of the exhaust pipe, excessive back pressure will kill the turbo boost

Confirmed the accuracy of your measuring devices?

A real waste to go looking for trouble when the gauge reads wrong...

Also if you ask some people the intake flow on a stock MCI is not enough for an 8V92 from what I have been told.

Thanks guys. Two responses:
1. We used a prolink to get boost numbers while driving. So I'm guessing it's accurate and the coach is slow for being set to 500hp.

2. My filter minder is maxing out...redlining. I have a brand new air filter but it's completely black with soot, so I actually did something you'll all cringe at, but on a calm day, i reset the filter minder, and then I pulled the filter and drove the coach literally one mile on pavement. The filter minder redlined again. What gives? How is there restriction in the intake when there's not even a filter installed!!?

Filter minders aren't reliable. I don't use one anymore. Try a different filter minder. They are cheap enough.

B_K is on to something...

Can you drop the air filter intake so it isn't sucking down through the built in pipes going up there...

Let it breath from inside the engine room temporarily and conduct a driving test.

MC8, some of us figured it out and cut a hole in the side to open up the air intake. Ridiculously constrained, breathing through a little hole in the radiator intake space.

Those subsequent "cavities to the sky" in later models still don't look the biggest in volume from my casual observations?

CFM of the installed air cleaner assembly? No such thing as too big with an 8V92... I have seen a few busnuts install a pair, irregular pipe routing matters not, y-pipe wherever it will fit, but more capacity none the less.

Buswarrior: done did that a while ago. I had a hunch that the two rectangular intake tubes were restrictive and dumb and frankly ate into my bedroom space so I renovated them and now the intake of literally just as you say directly in the engine room. Eventually I'll plumb it out the side door for cool air.
