Chas, as to backwards signs, remember the Greyhound destination ---  MIAMI   (already set to read backwards).  If you really wanted to, I guess you could make it MIAM I, with the space for those a little slower on the uptake.

You'll just have to update with a modern LED sign board, unlimited choices!

If you have a destination sign like the 4103s (below the windshields) make sure that the lights blink on and off and have the sign read NO BRAKES backwards.

Can we use those led signs????????????  I wanted to do one on the tail gate of a '79 Chevy pickup once! I think it would be too cool.  BUT, I think I read something on here that said we couldn't do that on a personal coach. No biggie, the scroll will just have to be bigger!!  :) with plenty of blank space for my own art work!!!  LOLOLOL

Well, my darned response disappeared again when I hit "post" - so I'll try to reconstruct it.

Chas, perhaps the suggestion is to use the LED sign from a city transit bus.  While making it fit may be an issue, the bigger issue may well be programming.  With a service change, reprogramming signs can be a major task.  I haven't been directly involved in a while, so I don't know the state of the problem with current Luminators, Twin Visions, or others - you may want to talk with your local transit property.

The last major service change where I had direct involvement in sign programming was a few years ago.  The Voltron signs had to have new chips programmed and installed in each bus.  The Luminators would have the new programs done on a PC, then downloaded into a MTU (mobile ? unit), which would then be plugged into each bus to update the bus' programming.  The way they work is that each sign has all the destinations (and flips) in memory, the driver just enters the code for his specific sign requirement.

One other problem I've heard of - some clients in California have told me of issues with the CHP as to the color of the signs (colored LED's are available now).  Apparently, some problem with the color red or blue showing, illuminated, on the front of the vehicle.  I don't remember any more details, nor do I know if any issues have been resolved.

One other thought - I get a kick out of some of the more suggestive ideas, even though my wife doesn't have the same sense of humor.  If you're going with Transign, remember that the contact person is Jennifer.  Personally, I wouldn't care to go over the spelling with her, I wouldn't want to put her on the spot (I don't know her, but we spoke a few times when I had my sign printed).  May be nothing, just my 1/50 of a dollar here.
