Trying to find wiper bits

I'm trying to put together a new wiper system on one side of my bus. I can forget trying to find Carpenter parts since they went out of business 20 years ago. Actually I sourced an original Carpenter wiper pivot but the place wanted $160 for it when I could get a different one for $40. The original had pin connectors whereas my replacement has a half inch ball connector. That ball is huge!

I've managed to find a two piece thing to clamp onto the ball. I can make a connecting arm. I'll probably use a VW Jetta wiper motor.

Where I have a problem is in trying to source an arm for the wiper motor that has a ball connector. The usual sources, eBay etc don't seem that helpful. Either it's not called a wiper motor arm or the searches are mucking up for some unknown reason.

Has anybody any suggestions?

Sounds like you need a "You Pull It" auto wreckers yard.  Might be better to bite the bullet if that $160 will get you what you need.

Since the motor is dead, the old pivot was dead and the switch was dead, I have to replace everything save for the wiper arm/blade. It therefore doesn't bother me to replace the 8 inch link.

Have you checked the Schoolie forum, they might be able to help you over there.

I did try a schoolie group once and found it was full of real dickheads.
But... don't most modern busses have ball connectors on their wipers?

Hmm... potential solution... the crank on the original is about an inch further away from the mount than this model. It should therefore be possible to cut a block of steel or aluminum as a spacer. Drill and tap the spacer then bolt the old crank arm over the new crank arm with the old pin connector in just the right place.

I knew sitting on this for a couple of weeks would turn up with an answer.
