I will be in Iowa and Ill. from May 18 through  Memorial day. I have a few open dates I would like to fill while on the road. Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, or states touching them. Also I will have accumulated the funds to start my Veg oil conversion and do a few other things that are over my head IE electrical stuff. Anybody want to help with any of these things let me know. I will have some visiting time if I don't fill the empty dates. Dates available are 5/20-21-22-23-27th

I need to start planning my veg conversion now so I know exactly what I need and how much $$$ I need.
I want to do mine so it's dummy proof (automatic) and I have an 8v92 DDEC.  I would like to have it done before I go to Sturgis in Aug.

I was just thinking of contacting chris up  in seattle to build me a tank for veg oil. He is so busy all the time I don't know what it would take to make it happen. I also want to make a 8v92 conversion run on veg oil. I was thinking that I shud do that first before putting much equipment in the bays.   Jerry

Well no expert on it but am learning as I am managing the conversion of my former 4104 to B100 and possibly to wvo/svo.

there are several comapnies that make pretty compete kits.

what is needed?

1. Seperate tank for SVo/WVo
2. Heater for this tank
3. possible fuel line heaters
4.fuel filter heaters or heater filters.
5. A selenoid that only allows Vo to be pumped when it is up to operation temp
6. a system that will purge the VO prior to shutdown and put Dino/B100 back in the fuel system.

thats about it.......oh yeah....anything rubber between the filler neck and the combustion chamber must be replaced with non rubber parts.

I can get the tanks built here in Tenn. just need the plans as far as the internals and fittings needed.

This was interesting also...had a lengthy tech coonversation with a well known and respected company that sells SVO/WVO systems......they suggested not using it for reliabily reasons and cost of a "reliable "system.......thoguht that was   pretty honest of them.........

Reliability issues were cold weather operation:  Cold Weather starting at 60 degrees

There is a yahoo group for WVO that my have information you will find useful.

Hey Ron,
Go over to the "Help" section and check out the "Alteratives" thread. It was the one we were involved in and combined with a couple other threads. (I like to go back and check it occasionally) CGoodwin was the guy who seems to have quite a bit of knowledge on it as well as............ ah heck, I forget his handle, but he has that sloped nose bus and runs WVO. Both of those guys seem to be knowledgable and helpful.
I'm still going to go for it also, I just got TOOOOOOOOOOOOO many irons in the fire. But I DEFINITELY want to keep up on it so I can "just do it" when I get to that point. By the way, I think a centrifuge is also the way to go.
  Later man!!!

Gonna get greasy one these days,

I have been reading the threads on Chris Goddwins Forum. He turns out well designed kits for cars and pickups and suv's.    Jerry

Just so you know-Detroit Diesel only approves of B5 (5% bio diesel) in their engines.  I've seen some gen sets run on 100%.  At about 4-5000hrs, the heads have to be taken off and chisel the hardened carbon build up from the veggie oil.  If you run sometimes on veggie and sometimes on Diesel, maybe that won't happen.  Good Luck, TomC

yeah I tried to talk the new owners of the '04 out of bio and definitley out of SVO/WVO........for many reasons....but it is their bus......so they can do whatever they want.

heck even VW, probably the most eearthy if the car manuf. only 'allow" blends.

As I understand that is the  purpose of heating the wvo before it can be run properly . A proper system will run on diesel until the wvo is up to temp and then switch over to wvo. Then before shutdown purge all wvo out of the engine and switch back to diesel.  Jerry

oops forgot to mention that stage.

Run on Diesle till temp up....switch to WVO/SVO...then purge with Diesel

overall the system looks fairly simple.....a good electical hobiest should be able to build one from parts, although maybe not as facy or technical as a "store" bought one
