Greetings:  My 1979 Liberty conversion prevost  has absolutely no Liberty documentation.  I am the third owner, the first owner suffered from dementia and all oral and written documentation is gone.  I  have called Liberty twice and asked for any documentation they might have and received no response.  The last time some one reminded me they were busy.  So does anyone know someone at Liberty that might at least listen to me, and perhaps look for their documentation.
thanks

Chuck,

Sign up on prevostcommunity.com because there are about 2800 enthusiasts there that might be able to help. The early Liberty coaches were fairly simple so a basic understanding of electric, plumbing, etc is all you need to keep one well maintained. Where you will have issues is finding replacement parts. With a coach approaching 40 years of age a lot of the items used may no longer be available so you will have to find substitutes that will replace them. Prevost will help you to an extent with the chassis, but their documentation is going to be equally sparse.

Liberty has likely long ago lost the build records for your coach, and they probably have few people that can even help you. The good news is Frank Konigseder is still around and he is the founder of the company so if you can reach him he might remember some of the details if you need help/

Chuck, I never had any luck with Liberty getting info on a older coaches not even a 22 year old coach but they are basic without all the electronics like on the newer coaches.I ran into the same at Foretravel on their 35 ft Prevost conversions too though so Liberty is not alone

I have a twenty two year old Country Coach conversion .CC went in to  bankruptcy so I really feel your pain .The problem with CC is that although I have the literature that came with mine ,they did an extremely poor job on it .

Prevost only sells the shell with whatever the converter wants added to the basic shell, raised roof, no windows etc. So they will not have conversion info only stuff related to the shell. If the conversion is very old or the company went away then good luck.

I didn't know that Beaver mad a conversion!! Gosh! Was there any one who didn't convert a Prevost?? The electronics on the CC are what is maddening.Right now ,the block heater switch works ,but won't change color to tell if it is off or on .It sure would be nice if a person could get the CD's for this build but CC says they are long gone

Thanks everyone, at least I am not alone, and my bus is pretty basic.  Waiting till it hits 30 on Saturday to do more  wire chasing.

Chuck,

Unless your coach precedes the practice, both Liberty and Prevost were very good at numbering circuits and doing it consistently. For example the ignition circuit on your coach is likely to be 85, and on my coach it is the same number.

Similarly, Liberty numbered each wire end. If you have a house electrical device the wire at the device will be numbered, and the same wire at the power source will carry that number also. The wires will be continuous unbroken runs. Your only problem is if your wires are numbered, and a previous owner got creative and modified the coach you can go crazy trying to figure stuff out.

One of the problems Jon ,after twenty or thirty years these wire numbers tend to get old and and brittle and in a lot of cases they just fall off .Poor quality labels are not very receptive to the extreme temperature changes encountered in these coaches.

I have 5 binders that came with the featherlite which helps but with all the re doing of the interior to bring it up to todays look . the only problem I have run in to is on the road side security lights ( 3 along the side at belt height ) there is a short that takes about 25 seconds to trip the breaker that I can,t find . so for now I disconnected the switch until I can find it . it helps to have the wiring diagrams but I cant find any junction locations in the books but have seen 4 or 5 so far under the kick on some cabinets .  I tried calling featherlite but after 17 years they do not want to talk to me . but if I want to replace the old clunker with a new one they have a lot to say .

I feel your pain

If it takes the breaker that long to trip you may want to check the lights. possibility a PO upgraded them and now they draw to much current.

hi Rick

I removed 1 light at a time to see if it was a bulb but no  go , then I removed all 3 still the same . trips breaker in about 25 seconds ? so I think there is a badly pinched wire ... SOMEWHERE .. so until I can find it the switch has no power . the curb side lights work as they should so at least the better side is working

    good idea though

thanks  dave

Dave:I am not familiar with Featherlite but on my Prevost ,all the lovoltage fuses are on the front wall of the front bay .It sounds like you may have one of these breakers that will plug into a fuse holder if it resets itself. If you find your fuses, this one will be a metal fuse that is larger than the regular fuses.

The self resetting breakers get weak over time could be the problem a short will kick it instantly.I purchased some 25 amp breakers from Napa made in the Mexico and they would still break.
I got to checking and new they would only carry 19 amps lol only took me 3 days to figure that out but all is well now with good American made breakers
