I am helping a friend figure out their Microphor toilet. I am figuring it out, as I go. There are some things in life that should remain uncomplicated. One of those things is toilets. Seriously. Why did anyone think it was a good idea to add a second chamber, then pressurize everything? I mean, seriously. We are talking about sewage here.

So there are two problems. The main problem is that when the air pressure drops, I think I don't have a good seal somewhere. Because air bubbles into the clean water in the bowl. I am assuming I have a bad seal somewhere. Probably in the water mixing valve or something. Am I close?

Then, if the tank is empty, and I flush the toilet with just air, I get a spray of sewage from the airvent on the roof.

I am not familiar with how these work, but I am getting more acquainted with them. My official suggestion to them is that they replace their toilet with a standard foot flush. But in the mean time, they have to keep going while they are on the road.

Ideas?

Those are good toilets if adjust right you are right there is a bad seal they never have air in the bowl.I doubt it sets directly over the tank the air was used to flush with when the tank was not under the toilet.
It has a adjustment in the back tank the rod has to be set and be careful not to break the rod.
fwiw I am not a huge fan of a air dump Microphor but once adjusted they work if the Air/Water sequence valve is good.That is a expensive throne you are working on, the Blue Bird Group can help you if go to their site.
I am installing a electric flush Microphor in the DL thanks for mounting the toilet above the tank

Now that is going to be an easy Rv to find. Looks like a steam Locomotive going down the road...Almost lost another computer on that one John. ;D
Sorry for the problem but yep sounds like a ball or flat at the seal just not adjusted right.

Have a direct, over the tank,,  electric flush Microphor, and have only replaced the flapper gasket ($9.95) a couple years ago on mine. It was installed in 1991 and still a clicking. Have owned this bus for going on 7 years. Heck my bus, if I needed air to flush , the way it leaks air over a few days, would be a pita.  ;D

Thanks, Clifford. That is helpful. We will see how it goes. And we set the entire bay up based around the toilet dropping straight into the black tank.

LOL. It is a mess when black water comes shooting out the top. And totally frustrating. I agree. Sewage should be gravity only.

i was thinking more along the lines of less than courteous drivers on the highway...

like in lieu of or added to the air horn...a few more pipes .. :)

Kinda reminds me of the "Back off or I'll flush" stickers that used to get put on RV's many years ago!

First, make sure the water and air pressure is regulated to 60 psi or less. The toilet does not like high pressures. It will cause what you are describing or cause the water to continue to run into the bowl.

Second the valve you mention is the sequencing valve. From time to time they must be taken apart and lubed. I use a very light silicone. It's a little bit of a jig saw puzzle to get it apart to get the spool piece out.

Do NOT unscrew the top of the sequencing valve without relieving air and water pressure or you will get a shower and a flood.

Thanks for all the help. I think we figured it out. We ordered a new sequencing valve, because I could hear air leaking in there somewhere. They will make sure to lube it once a year, as the manual suggests.

As to blowing sewage out the top. I figured that out too. They have a long horizontal section of vent pipe. When their tank gets really full, sewage get's into that line. And then. Well....Bluey ::)
