PS: A horse hauler was here a couple weeks ago with a nice 10 year old Peterbilt. He said though, that he is going to have to buy a new truck soon to be able to continue doing business in California.

Yep CA wants all trucks and buses to be the 2010 engines or newer,I will say the diesel engines from 2010 do burn clean though

Talked to the guy today and he bought 4 of them at auction and has this one and one that he has to pick up in NJ yet, he said the other bus has around 80,000 mile on it. I may go look at it tomorrow if the weather isn't to bad. I'm just not sure I want to get into another conversion project, I always said the next one I buy would have the slides in it and only need remodeling ;D The old bus has sentimental value with my dad who isn't with us anymore and I don't know if I could part with it, it was kinda our project with a lot of time spent together up until the end. I really like how the tag wheels are the same as the drive wheels and already has a diesel generator installed. Jason

Does that mean all trucks registered in CA must follow those rules or all trucks driving thru CA must meet those rules?  If so, perhaps you can start up Clifford's Truck Registration Company Inc. in AZ and for $500 bucks each per year you can let them register them using your address Cliff to help them out.

Commercial Trucks and Buses for hire only and it has been said so many times. They are already finding that DEF is creating problems for people with allergies and a lot more kids with Lung problems who live close to truck routes and attribute it to DEF. They are already re-thinking that and will probably drop a lot of the other stuff by 2018 and 2020. Buses for personal use are still exempt.

Isn't Bluebird out of the coach bus market?  Can you even get parts for the coach buses?

Didn't someone buy a bunch of Bluebird coach bus partial chassis and parts and put together a complete bus from them?

2007 through 2010 engines with DPF only will be good through 2023 in California. Then, all commercial trucks and buses have to have a minimum of a 2010 engine with DEF and DPF. Still, RV's are exempt from California smog laws that are older than 2007. Good Luck, TomC

And we'd better be wary of these exemptions.

The government was afraid of our parents and grand parents.

They aren't afraid of us.

At some point, some civil servant will find a trigger to have them removed.

and won't that be an exciting day on the Boards?

A "carelessly written" fresh regulation will "accidentally" leave out the exemptions.

Wording will be all encompassing and absolute.

Buried in an omnibus bill.

And since we all stopped paying memberships to the RV lobby group that used to pay attention, they don't have a government affairs person anymore, and with dwindled membership, their lobbying weight is down several classes...

And nobody will listen.

And if there happens to arise a heavy champion, see the first line, apologies issued, and they'll go wait for the next opportunity.

vigilance costs. Where's those old renewal papers...
