Facebook argument over multi-weight oil

I am not an online arguer. I consider it childish, but I got sucked into the BCM facebook page argument over using multi weight oil in a two stroke. I can't handle it over there. So many people who know nothing going off saying how Lucas and Amsoil are Gods gift to two strokes and will make your bus fly and float. Just blowing steam....sigh. I feel much better. I'm memorizing who is saying what because I don't want to buy their buses someday....

Scott -

Yup, don't let Gary suck you in with his Amsoil ravings!  (I have fun yanking his chain and getting him all hot and bothered!)  ;D

OTOH, using synthetics for everything else but the engine seems to be widely accepted.

Stick to the majors and you'll be ok: Mobile Delvac 1240, Chevron Delo 100 and Shell Rotella T.

FWIW & HTH. . .

Nope some jugs will say for MTU l and MTU ll engines and on the Delo 400 15/40 label they drop the MTU ll engine. To much is made of the ash content and I am not a Delo fan anyways.

When we could buy real diesel fuel the red for off road use we had to use oil with a ash content of 1.24% to make the TBN jive that was DD spec

I was always under the school of thought that dictated 40w...drive it like you're trying to kill it (I don't do that one) and indeed, if there is nothing leaking...the bus is out of oil :)

Standard Oil worked with General Motors and invented the 30, 40, 50 weight Delo 100 specifically for use in the 2 stroke Diesels. I've seen the magic 15W-40 can do to the inner workings of the engines. If you want to do premature overhauls at around 150,000mi, rather than having an engine last upwards towards 500,000mi before overhaul, then please use the 15W-40.
When I first bought my 1980 KW with 8V-92TA, 15W-40 was recommended and 100,000mi oil change with changing oil filters every 25,000mi. That was rather quickly retracted and the straight weight 30 (cold weather), 40 or 50 weight (mostly generator and mining engines) was recommended. Good Luck, TomC
