I agree with B_K.  You should never leave home without a full set of spare fan belts and new belts are best.  I also recommend carrying a full set of fuel and oil filters too as there have been occasions when rocks have punctured holes in them spewing oil and/or fuel all over the place. As far as a coolant filter, that is less important if you even have one as many have bypass valves if they spring a leak.  Also remember to carry extra oil and coolant, the quantity depending on the amount you may need based on your engine and maintenance records.

There used to be fan belts that came in 1" sections (or so) that you can build yourself similar to Legos, which could be used temporarily in most situations. Haven't seen them in years. Maybe Clifford can comment on this as he may remember and may know if you can still buy these.  We had them on the farm to save us a trip into town if belts on the farm equipment broke when trying to get the hay in before dark.

You can still buy the Flexco splicers,they are popular when the pump is driven off the front of the crank on equipment so there is no need to remove the hyd pump to replace a belt
