That is what happens when you park a 40,000 plus or minus vehicle on grass that may be wet. It gets stuck. Good thing you did not bury it to the chassis then the heavy duty wrecker comes into play.

Scott, you should carry 2-3x5 carpet runners to use under the drive axle when it necessitates parking on grass, saves you a lot of embarrassment BTDT

As always, Cliff is right. If nothing else, get some 2X lumber to park on. It makes all the difference in the world.

@Dave. The orange shag is the best. It has the most grip. Never wears out, and there is always plenty to go around.

How muddy can it be and this still works, Clifford?  I had no idea -- I'm going to put it on my list for before my first trip.

I got one rear dual about 2 feet off my gravel driveway a couple of years ago, the clay soil just liquefied and it was on the chassis.  Other three wheels still on the driveway!  It took three hours of digging a hole to put a jack in, jacking up the wheel, blocking it, jacking, blocking, until I got it high enough to put a couple of layers of ten foot long 2 by 10 and drive it out.  I must have buried a dozen two foot long pieces of 2 by 10 that I kept putting under the jack, which kept pushing them down into the soil.  I widened my driveway after that...

Bruce, the carpet works kinda like the fabric you see used under parking lots in low spongy areas.Year ago before the Geo Fabrics you buy now I watched people lay carpet down then cover it with a base in Houston Texas where it can get wet ::).I have always used the carpet with great results and still carry it

It more depends on where you are sitting. If it is really muddy, you will sink in as soon as you pull off. However, in a grass covered situation, the carpet is just enough to get the forward momentum started. Then it just takes smart driving to make it work.

when its wet we park on our big rig mud flaps I picked up at a yard sale. Then if still wet when leaving lay the carpet in front of the wheel and walk right out. ;D

Yep, my old long gone Crown Supercoach 10 wheeler NEVER never got stuck.  Even did donuts in 6" of snow in a dirt grassy field.  Much fun but dumb.  Also took her right on the beach sand just South of Crescent City CA.  I wonder how much a really big big wrecker tow truck would cost?  The tide is coming in!  Yikes!  :)

We weren't parked there. It's an RV site owned by a school and they said we could dump our holding tank at one of the site sewer connections so we rolled in. Big mistake.
