Mixing Motor Oils

I recently changed from straight delo 100 40 wt  to the Canadian Walmart straight 40 wt CF2 - 5 gal & Lucas full synthetic oil stabilizer - 1 gal which puts it right to the full mark on the dipstick. I added five quarts of delo 100 40 wt after 4800 miles to bring it back to full on the dipstick. Best (least) oil consumption our coach has shown us in many years and better oil pressure across all rpms... Go figure! Some Canada Walmarts sell the Cf2 oil in 5 gal pails for $58.
Come on USA, catch up already!

I've been using the Canadian Walmart straight 40 oil for nearly 10 years now with no problems and very little consumption. I think more of it leaks than burns, and that's not a lot.

I can get the delvac 1240 at ww Williams for $12 a gallon so I generally run that in my coaches. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing a little less leakage so if I can find a two stroke compatible 50 weight, I'd like to try it out. I can't tell for sure though in my online research so far which 50 weight is safe to run in my 8v92.

I also use walmart 40 weight oil. Each year on a trip to bridgewater NS I buy a pail for my yearly oil change. Been doing this for at least
15 years. Well over 200k miles on 8V71 lefty still running strong. I treat consumption like fuel, when it needs some, add. Use 30 weight
walmart USA to top up.  Enjoy 06 Bill

That just about made me choke on my coffee! I hope you know that I meant it used more than a few fresh pails over that decade but always the Walmart stuff.

Delo 100 has less ash content than Delvac, it's good enough to keep for adding. Yes, Delvac 1240 is good, but I don't know about it being the Cadillac of oils. If it was really that good it might be better to say it was the Mercedes Benz of oils.

Walmart 40w is also my oil of choice. I always carry a pail with me (just in case), plus several more gallon jugs. I did use all of that one year heading home from AZ to Canada. A couple of the Allen screws that are supposed to be in the intake manifold had been replaced by dabs of silicone! (not by me!)  The silicone eventually blew out, and the oil flowed! I had to add about 1 gallon every 2 hours driving to keep it full.  I could not tell where it was coming from, but engine was still running well, so I topped off and drove.  Many times. Travelling across Montana at the time on Sunday. No service shops anywhere close. Made it home eventually with a very, VERY, "VERY" dirty toad.

Pulled the powertrain that summer to switch to automatic transmission and found the missing plugs waaay at the back of the engine. No way would I ever have found those holes without pulling the engine.

Dave, this is true. I think the delvac will miraculously over time give my coach more power.

Cliff, why fix the leaks? If I can just pour 120 weight gear lube into my engine and the leaking stops, I'm good right? :-)

Walmart 40W works good for me too. Maybe they get it from Mobil?

The only possible downside I can think of for mixing different brands of oil is when you have an oil analysis done  -  which oil is then used for the baseline values?   Or do different oils have essentially identical additive packages?   I have mostly Conoco-Phillips 76 T5X straight 40-weight in my engine now, but I've topped up with some Delo 100, and I also recently bought a gallon of Shell Rotella T.   I plan on having another analysis done soon  -  I hope my mongrel oil doesn't confuse things.
