bin door safety latches

Hey folks:I am in the process of changing some struts on the bin doors of my XL .I also wanted to change the safety latches while I was doing this as it will make changing the struts a much easier job.All the ones on the bus have gotten straitened out(not on my watch).Called Prevost this am and ordered my struts ,a little under twenty eight bucks which is a very fair price indeed ,but when he priced me on the safety latches ,they were 36 dollars and change each .Now I am talking about a two 3"in long piece of metal with a bolt hole on one end and a hook bent into the other end cat#480657.Needless to say,I didn't buy any and Charlie with Prevost says they very seldom sell any ,so what do you other Pevost owners do when you need these things,rebend them,heat and rebend them or just do with out them?
