can I use motor oil as power steering fluid in 1983 mci 9

I have an 81 mc9 and I had the same question.  I called MCI tech support and they recommend the same oil that you would put in the engine.  Straight 30 wt.

I have an 8v-71 that uses straight 40 wt oil.  Have always used
40 wt in the power steering also.

I think you mean 40wt?
Some are called, some are sent, some just got up and went.

What was I thinking?  You guys are right.  I meant 40wt.  That will teach me to think after midnight.

Think about this:

If the steering pump seal ever leaks (as it is on my coach) then the oil you have in your power steering system/reservoir will leak into the engine internally....which would you rather have? 40wt motor oil or transmission fluid leaking into your engine?
