Bus Insurers Getting Scarce - any names ?

Maybe they will find out it is a bus someday and cut me... but I am gettin it while the gettin is good 

I'm sorry but I have never understood this attitude. What I hear you saying is "I tricked them into cashing my cheque". I've never had any trouble getting an insurer to cash my cheque but I have on more than one occasion had trouble getting the SOBs to fully pay a legitimate claim. If it was me I'd get it in writing that the insurance is for a [insert brand here] bus which has been converted for use as an RV by [insert converter name here]. Until I had that 100% in writing I wouldn't give them 5 cents.

I hear you. As I said, I don't really drive the coach as it is still under construction. Roof raise done, skin on the side and finishing up insulating now. When it comes time to put some miles on it I will revisit the insurance. I don't feel that I tricked them however, I gave them all the information they requested and then some. When I walked away they gave me a check and an insurance card... I wasn't going to argue to much!

On another note, Triple A are also the ones who inspected the coach so that I could register it as a motorhome (prior to demolition)... you would think they would know what they were getting into?

I insured mine with Triple A because I had auto insurance with them. I put that I would only drive it 500 miles per year because it is still being worked on and it is only liability. Of course they didn't have MCI in their system but the lady there got the paperwork done. Best part was my insurance went down $12... they literally gave me a check to insure the bus!

Who is the underwriter for your AAA insurance on buses they usually write you up on Progressive.AAA is only a agent owned by the Mielak's not a insurance co we had it for a couple of years on the Eagle written through Progressive

  Well it is done. That was way less painless than in the past.  State Farm $885/yr with max limits and $150,000 replacement cost. I did try an online Progressive quote and got a $900/yr premium. I phone Progressive  just to make sure that all was good due to me having to check off "Other" twice, once for manufacturer and once for type of RV.
  I paid an extra $30 for 1M in medical coverage instead of zero , cause I now have "crappy" health insurance (if I leave the network) vs my good old Blue Cross I had for 25 years.
  SO in summary I was with National Interstate for over 10 years, they stopped insuring bus conversions, the broker signed me with Blue Sky last year for $1200/yr (max benefits). Then at this years renewal Blue Sky wanted $1800/yr.

  So State Farm it is, and the local agent insures my rental apartments and my life . I am happy to help him get his piece of the pie.
