After our most recent trip (600 miles round trip) I noticed something dripping from the structure between the drive axle and tag axle.   Today I finally had time to crawl under the bus and check it out.  It is definitely rear diff oil.  The only thing wrong that I can see is that the breather is missing and the oil seems to be coming from that general area.  Does it make sense that with the breather gone the oil would slosh our of the opening where the breather was?

The only other thing close to that area is the the auto slack adjuster.   Is there an oil seal in the adjuster or brake mechanism that could be bad?

The breather won't omit but very little oil unless it is way overfilled, they relieve pressure that is just 1/8 or 1/4 inch.Check the wheel seal

Would a wheel seal cause oil to be that far inboard?   The bottom of the differential housing had some oil on it.

Oil could spit out a little bit, but the danger is water getting in and turning the oil to milky mush.

I agree, and I plan to change the oil once I find a breather.  I just want to make sure I fix the leak also, just hard to tell for sure where it is coming from.

I just finished doing all my bearings and seals on a MCI,strange I had no grease on the wheel, brake linings, drums or tire but it would coat the back of the bus in 200 miles go figure
