Looks like a good system for conversion bus builds. This guy is a leading authority on quality tiling jobs.

The only things that would be bus-specific would be self drilling screws for those circular hold-downs. The fiber mesh in use in this video (at the transition to the finished drywall) is the brand Maipei water proofing adhesive. It takes thinset readily, and is also used on cement board (such as Hardie tile backer).

One of my businesses as a contractor for 48 years was tile and I see many problems with that installation. I never lay any tile backer over wood anything especially wafferboard substrait without any kind of moisture barrier and fracture barrior inbetween them. Then a PVC liner on base and continuous up the wall for at least 18 inches with a mud bed with wire mesh embedded in it. That job in just asking for leaks and problems.

I agree, it does not look like a good installation. Might be better to label it "Waki", in my opinion.

The vinyl pan liner system is thoroughly reliable when installed properly. But the draw backs are the pre-slope and then the mortar bed inside the pan liner. It is labor intensive and heavy. The Wedi system has the slope pre-formed. It is light weight, probably one third of a traditional water proofing system. As for a vapor barrier, the rigid foam does not let moisture through, and has enough R value to prevent a dew point on the wall side. Wedi and Kerdi-Schluter warranty their products. The rigid foam is able to slightly flex without cracking or coming unbonded from the substrate.
