Hey everyone, thank you for all the posts. I must admit, I was not expecting such prompt and in-depth replies--super cool and very helpful, if occasionally painful to read!   :-\

To respond to some questions/comments: Kyle, my knowledge and skills are extremely minimal, and my friends are no better. I tinker a bit (e.g., installed a kit converting my previous bus to run off of veggie oil), but nothing beyond simple stuff. I can't weld, have never taken apart an engine. I don't even know what a wheel seal is, let alone the implications of one leaking.

I agree of course with the sentiment that the smarter time to post a question like this (and for thorough inspection) is before buying. So much for impatience. Will chalk this up to 'tuition.'

RJ, I did not buy US Coach, no. I've known Luke and Bill for years, would have felt confident buying from them, if they had a 102" for sale.

Still not sure what I'll do (will call seller & inspection mechanic when the weekend's over) but have turned that hard corner of resignation twd. searching around for another bus, talking to my wife...

Thanks again for taking the time to share your collective knowledge & experience--will post an update soon.
