Hi ALL,  Looking at a bus that has a 60 series engine. It is a Houston Metro Bus (New Flyer). What has to be done to increase the HP from 330? Can it be done? Also bus has a Voith automatic transmission with Jake brakes and 488 rear end. Is this a good combination for traveling. Thanks, John

The 330 hp in the Houston Metros were series 50 better check close about it being a series 60 in front of the Voith

I bought one of those last year from Houston Metro for resale (sold it) mine was a 12.7- 430 hp and 470 hp on cruise with a Allison B500 and 4:30 gears used on the Conroe run. I bet the one you are looking at is one that had the 11.1 -330 hp series 60 if so 370 hp is the best you can do without spending big bucks. I waiting for Metro to turn the 45 ft Blue Birds loose that is the one I want

Love those units, we missed out on the auction last year, just dont want to pay the higher resale prices!

The drivers really babied those units also (I'm on a facebook group with some of the guys that handled those when they were in service).

Better than the original prices.. they first listed for 45k and 50k!

I emailed them and asked if they meant 4500 and 5000 :)

There was a guy in Baytown Tx that had 3 he paid less than 30k for all 3 and was asking 38k ea I told him that was good deal if you can swing it  ;D the last time I saw the buses the windshields were totally white because of all his marking down on the prices

Yup they averages 10k a bus, but consider auction fee's, time to collect, fuel etc etc.. 16k is a VERY fair price! 50k not so much :)
