Hi all,

I'm posting for Marilyn until she can logon to the forum herself.  Here are her questions, and please let me know if there are any follow-ups and I will pass them along to her until she can sign on.

QuoteI need to again find a mechanic in the Dallas area.  Also need to know what batteries our Eagle 05 takes.  It's been at least 4-5 years that Floyd replaced batteries.  He got rebuilt ones from Continental Batteries, but they need to know what he used - I can't find an old receipt any where.

Thanks very much and kind regards, Phil

And as an update, I see that when Floyd was posting back in 2012/2013 they were looking for a mechanic that makes housecalls.  That may also be a help at this time as well.

Thanks again!  Phil

If it is the original battery location it takes 2-8D 's 1 each battery compartment  1 on each side

but.. two 4d's will suit 98% of most peoples needs...and will easily start the motor.

Thanks all for the help w/ the batteries!

- Any suggestions for the bus mechanic in Dallas?

If you don't use the two batteries for nothing but starting, two size 31 batteries will start the bus just fine. The weigh half as much as the 8D. Good Luck, TomC

1 8-D will start the bus fine I prefer 2 but then we go to the cold country sometimes and 2 group 31 or 1 -8D doesn't cut it

Phil, when I had the 4107, I used Darby Diesel Repair in Hutchins, TX -- 15-20 miles south of downtown Dallas at the intersection of I-45 and I-20.  I had been referred to him by a retired GM Truck and Coach field engineer who lives nearby.  Former mechanic for the local transit system, he worked on both trucks and buses once he started his own business.

I had no complaints about his work or pricing, but he was hard to talk to on the phone -- one word answers.  His stepmother, Diane, runs/ran the office.

I say runs or ran, because when I Googled them just now to get contact information, one site came up that they were permanently closed.  If John Vickers (RoadrunnerTX) sees this, he may know more, since he runs up and down that stretch of I-45 periodically.

Arthur

Other than that, I don't know of anyone in the area.

Last I heard Marilyn was still looking for a reputable mechanic in the Dallas area.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!  Phil

I have a trip to Texas coming up where I'll be working on some vintage coaches.  What work is she looking to have done?  I'll be going through Dallas with my bus full of tools and depending on what needs to be done could fit in a few days for her.  I've been traveling all over helping bus owners work on their vintage buses for the last few months.  I charge a small travel fee to cover my fuel and a super low $35 hourly rate.  I'm working on a MC6 12v71 in OK then heading to Houston TX to work on a 4106 later this month, then to FL for a 4104.  I can be contacted at scott@busgreasemonkey.com references available

Feel free to call Marilyn at (972) 987-5144.  She is a very nice woman and used to have Sonny do all of her work.

Just FYI, Scott is awesome. I've been on his greasemonkey site and he's helped a ton of bus people including myself, work through issues. (Not the mental or emotional kind :-) he knows what he's doing and if you don't believe me, look up his YouTube videos. If Marilyn can squeeze a bit of time from him, she'd likely get her eagle issues resolved. I would connect her with Scott Crosby Phil. Shame, I just left Dallas and didn't even realize this post was here. I could have helped her out a little.
