I got home last ( friday) evening after three days on the road covering the 2500 miles from SC to OR. The bus peformed well although I did blow a tire and the way back. I never knew it though as the bus was extremely stable even though that outside dual was gone. I read the thread on 24.5  and am going to go with them. I have an old Trailer with very good tires on it that I am going to use for now. That and the wheels fron another trailer will complete th jobe except for a spare. The AC sysstem was the only thing to fail so will have to do some study as to why.   Jerry

Thanks Jon I do to. . I was so tired last eve that a shower and bed was the first thing I did. I got up this AM and unloaded and cleaned some Then this afternoon I dug out the jacks and impact wrenches and nock the tires off that trailer and rel=placed them with the old 22.5 s. I think getting the bus in order is first order of business. Jeddrry

Jerry if you still have the bus air, you will find many people have opted to remove it. Many feel it is too expensive to maintaine.

Glad you made it home safe and sound.
When I bought mine I drove it from Shelby Ohio to Burbank California. Did not have any problems on that trip.
Moving to Texas was another story, lost the air compressor in Palm Springs. One of the nicest man I have ever met drove for 4 hours to help me out, another Eagle owner/Bus Nut. They are a great group of people who read this board.
Good Luck on your project!

Happy Trails,

Paul

Glad you made it home OK.  I really enjoyed meeting you in Quartzsite.  Hope seeing my MCI 7 gave you some ideas.

Congrats on a relatively uncomplicated trip Jerry!
Now you're a real "busnut"...!
How much oil did the engine burn?  Does it seem like a good engine?
The AC may need charging.  It would be more unusual if it worked!
The OEM AC may prove to be the most expensive item on the bus to maintain. Good time to think thru what you want for campground AC.  May use a diesel genset and maybe rooftops?
Regarding your 24" wheels, does your bus have stud piloted wheels?  Are the wheels interchangeable?
This would be a good time to get yourself some purty alloy wheels.
When did you pick the bus up?   I've been incredibly busy lately and may have missed your post.  ???
Cheers, JR

We need to do a poll on how far we went to get our busses. It seems that I read a lot of us travel across country to get them. I found mine in California and had to get it back to Virginia.

Glad your trip went well with only minor problems.

Hi Ed and JR, I left home on sunday eve 18 mar and arrived in charlotte monday AM. Got in late so also got a laterflight to spartanburg. I didn't have much time for gatting things done on monday but did go fuel it up.Tues I took it to williams for the oil change and theyu also fixed an oil leak. I had lonnie pick up some wheels at a salvage yard and went to dixie tire to get some used tirs on the steer for th ride home. I had ordered a belt for the blower at knapa and picked it up about 4:30 PM and departed north. I stopped at a rest area and put the belt on and continued on in the rain. If  you have parts book that lists the proper belt for the blower I would like to know what it is. I went by the number on the old belt which was C120 but seems too long to me as the air adjuster is at its stop. Anyway arrived fri eve and was darn glad to be home and see a shower and bed.   Jerry

As for the wheels this bus has had aluminum on before and the studs are long for them and had the gasgets still on the wheels. As for oil consumtion about one quart every 500 miles and the engine and transmission work just fine and the AC did work for a while . Jerry

All I have on belts is the MCI part numbers.  Don't have the length.
Come to think about it, I have a spare belt in the bus....somewhere.  I'll look at it tonight and see if any numbers jump out at me.
I would assume that an A3 is about the same as a 9 in the engine compartment?
