reminds me of my Opal Cadet I had. Couldn't afford a starter so I just brought Leon with me so he could push. Silly me,,,, all I needed was a jack and rope

It's just a matter of perspective.   If you live somewhere that labor is cheap (and expendable), while parts and things are expensive and hard to get, then you learn to make do.   I've ridden on buses in Nepal that had patches bolted onto the outside of their tire, that had tires so bald that the steel belt was showing, that had small boys riding with them to put rocks under the wheels when climbing steep hills to prevent them going backwards.   After a time that just becomes "normal", the status quo, and then it seems perfectly natural to be asked to get out and help push up some hills!   Heck, in Afghanistan in 1977 (before that beautiful country imploded) the elderly Mercedes O-302 I was in had a puncture in the middle of the night somewhere between Herat and Kandahar, so all the passengers got out and pushed the side of the bus up so rocks could be jammed under the axle  -  who needs hydraulic jacks and jackstands when you can manhandle things instead?!   Fun!   So when I see the neurotically overly-protective obsession with "safety" here, I just smile.

BobWoo. I'm sure you can tell a few stories about your OPEL KADETT. My aunt is about 13 years older than me so I remember her first car was a 1969 OPEL KADETT. While this thing seemed to be well built, the engine was a joke. It was a 1.1L four that had high compression that required premium fuel and it had 2 carbs and put out about 60 HP. Starting this engine was more of a chore even in nice weather winter was hit or miss at best. It was louder than a diesel of today. It could get up to freeway speed but it sounded like it was straining for all it was worth. I don't know why she wanted that car of all cars back in the early 70's but she doesn't drive much and got rid of in after about 10 years since that type of fuel was getting hard to find.
My late grandpa always joked that Germans are supposed to be such brilliant engineers then they come up with crap like that.

yeah, I lived in Florida so I had no hills to climb or winter but still it was a chore. The only good thing, it was real good on gas. ;D

I'd do it :-) That was thinking out of the box...cool stuff haha. I take it for granted that with the flick of my wrist, all of my vehicles come to life. Now if only my generator did the same...

Can you mount a tire on a generator ?
