I believe on the older 6.5's-like what is being talked about, the air exhaust was only available through the floor.  And some of the units had the exhaust blowing into the hot air stream.  If one muffler isn't enough, use a second one.  But-then try putting a load on it to make sure the engine is not backed up too much.  Good Luck, TomC

bob, can the hot discharge air on my 7.5 Marquis be turned to discharge through the door rather than down thru the bus floor? The only complaint with it is that when the awining is extended and the geny running, the hot air comes up under the awning and is uncomfortable. The trick would be to make it where the discharge air would not be pulled back into the fresh air intake and recycled.
If it cant be turned, another suggestion to divert the hot air out?

Chuck,

You could easily make a deflector - like those that go over air registers in homes - and direct it back and to the driver's side.  That way, you'll eliminate another hole in the door and all the noise that I'm trying to get rid of.

Dave, the Vacu-flow can be rotated to a more favorable position if you so desire. It is not necessqary to remove the fan to do this.  Should be four bolts (behind the plugs) in the front of the duct.  I thought for sure I'd mentioned this to you in T'ville but I might be mistaken.

Good Luck.....

Bob,
I don't recall you mentioning it to me.  I believe I already had the hole in the bay floor in T'ville.  I was thinking of doing just what you say.  I can direct it towards the center of the bus (back side of the generator), into an insulated duct (fiberglass ductboard, most likely), then down.  That would give a couple of 90's and a material to absorb the sound and heat.  It would mean another hole in the floor, but what the hell!  The original hole can always be patched, especially if I cut the new hole bigger and seal and rivet the piece over the unused hole.  I may try your idea temporarily with some 8" flex duct I have before cutting anything else out.

I'll add some length of exhaust pipe between the muffler and where it turns out from under the bus to see if that helps the exhaust sound.  If not, it'll be another small muffler / resonator after the first.

Thanks for the tips and ideas guys.
