Just finished a 650 mile trip to Cloudcroft NM and noticed the auto shutdown alarmstat head is broken off the probe on my 6v92.  It was just hanging there.  No water leak from it, but I'm wondering if I need to replace it now or can I wait till we get back home.  I disconnected my auto shutdown circuit 10 years ago, so I'm not afraid of having that out of service.  I'm only afraid of a coolant leak..  Here is a picture of part I'm talking about:

If it was mine, I'd replace the sender with a teflon tape wrapped pipe plug just to be on the safe side.  Quick and simple patch.  Jack

The way they are made it won't leak

If you pull it out to plug or replace, you'll have a good size stream of coolant to contend with.

As Cliff said, they should not leak. Leave it alone till you get home and can drain down the coolant or risk being quick to change it.

Thanks guys.

I looked at it closely and feel it will make it home in two weeks.  I really don't want to do it here at the camp.  Parts availability is nil in case something bad happens.

Made it back home, now time to replace.  What is the temperature rating for this alarmstat. If I knew I can probably get it in San Antonio tomorrow instead of 3 or 4 days from Jefferson.  It has 1/2" NPT threads on it.  Can't read the numbers on it.  This is the auto shutdown circuit

Should be 203 degrees for your 6v92,the alarm will go off at 203 and shutdown will be at 208 to 210 degrees Ed may be your best bet on that sensor

The ebay 1 is a 2 terminal you see those on shutters controls on the trucks or buses it would probably work for a light or a buzzer though

called Stewart Stevenson in San Antonio.  The guy didn't even know what I was asking for.  Gave up and called Ed.  It's 210 degrees and on its way.  I didn't ask the price :o

I need to get it back on there regardless.
