For what it is worth, it did not come across to me as a jerk - rather as someone who understands that many bus converters enjoy the hunt for free stuff as an integral part of the conversion process.

Fresh water has to be a brand spanking new tank. I don't trust soiled tanks for that! Used water can go in anything - even a container that had cyanide in it as it'll be dumped and not consumed.
