honda eu7000is gene

looking at this gene . has any one used one like this ?
I want a quiet gene and at 60 dbs this one looks great
more power then I need but beater to go a little bigger then smaller

A friend of mine had the earlier version (not fuel injected) and it was a total workhorse.  You do need to mount it so it gets sufficient air flow.  you can't just put it in a box and expect it to not over heat.

I was thinking of  installing it in the old a/c compartment with a extension on the exhaust pipe vented out the side . I have a crappy 3100 inverter ( powerhouse )gene there now and it runs cool

with my 3100 inverter gene I have now and with the 4024 hybrid some times it goes in to retard mode when the a/c turns on if I am not using enough power or if I have it on eco mode 

I almost bought the yamaha 3000 with the boost but unless I run it with out the eco mode I think the same thing will happen

I had the similar 6500 watt one from Yamaha for a couple months.  It would power three 15K BTU rooftops with no problems at moderate temps.  It went through gas like crazy.  A gallon an hour easy.

the idea of using the gene on 1/4 to 1/2 load is what I am looking for . if the specs. are right the gas usage should only be about 1 litre  to 1, 1/2 litres a hour .  it is the start up power when the a/c starts that is the problem with the smaller gene's it takes to long to ramp up on eco mode . now this is with the 3100 I have now but I have heard that if you are not using enough power on the yamaha , honda 3000 watts it has the same problems

is any one using 2 a/c units off of a 4024 hybrid inverter off of the batteries while driving ?

I can do this with 130 a to 140 amp draw off the inverter and with the 270 amp alternator that is 1/2 the load .

do you guys think that is to high of a draw on the alternator for a long time ?

If you consider the stock fan motors, 2 hp for the condenser and 1.5 hp for the evaporator, plus the driver's air plus passenger ventilation, the amperage load would have been in the 150 amp plus range if everything was running.  So I would say it's a normal design range load on that alternator.  The big reason it's oil cooled is so that it can run close to maximum load somewhat indefinitely.

I have not had that much test time yet but when I had the 2 a/c ,s running it did not drive any different then any other time

I went into my local honda dealer to day to check the size to make sure it would fit in the old a/c compartment and was surprised and happy to find out that the size on the internet is a lot bigger then in real life .

they made me a deal I could not refuse ( $ 300.00 off ) so I loaded it in my truck and brought it home

now I just have to rework my roll out dwr and adjust my exhaust out put  to fit it in

the light at the end of the tunnel.....
I started to replace my house system 4 @ trojan t-105re 255 batteries at 24 volt the magnum 4024 hybrid and finally a honda 7000 fuel injected inverter gene .

the hole system works 100 times better then the old 12 volt system , the 2000 watt inverter I had
I can now use the a/c off the 4024 inverter and the alternator driving down the road or with the inverter gene running at just over idle at 2420 rpm under load of 11 amps a/c 120 volts ( regular idle is 2400 rpm ) and with 2 a/c units running at 20 amps a/c 120 volts the gene purrs a long at 2640 rpm . the gene at full load of 7000 watts is 3600 rpm

it is so quite at 2400-2650 rpm it is hard to here it ( about 49-54 db ) and at full rpm is 59-60 db and with only running at 2400-2500 most of the time the fuel ( gas ) usage should only be 1-1.3 litres per hour so on a full tank of 19 litres ( 5 us gallon ) the run time should be about 16-18 hrs

time will tell on the gas mileage but the set up so far is way better then I ever expected and I would have liked to do all this with a diesel gene but I think the quite fuel efficient honda is state of art compared to the old thinking of run everything when the diesel gene is running as it is making full power .

How is it doing temperature-wise if you have it installed in the A/C compartment bay?

I installed it on a set of dwr slides ( 350 - 500 lbs ) it sits sideways and the exhaust from the gene goes into a 1&1/4" exhaust pipe that is vented out the side of the coach and there is 9 " of open space for the gene hot air vent to do the same . My old a/c compartment has a fully vented door 33" high x 46" long so there is very little heat that is inside the old compartment .

I will take some pics this weekend

I have a EV6010 6KW gas, water cooled Honda which requires mounting in a box with very specific clearance dimensions and air intake holes for proper cooling, a great little gen.

Be sure to follow the installation instructions closely as gas genset exhaust systems get really hot. I wrapped mine with heat resistant matting.
