Just returned from 3400 mile trip to Austin Texas and back to Chesapeake VA.  My 8v92ta used less than a quart. I'm using Rotella 40W.

DD 671 in a '55 4104. Used 6 quarts in fifteen miles driving it home when we bought it a few months back... Of course, there's a huge leak on the 'front' of the motor - actually the side opposite the blower. I'm betting the oil cooler has a failing hose.

well, I'm hoping that's the problem...

It's got it's share of problems, but driving it out to our place was the first time it's been on the road in over seventeen years. When we cranked it up, it was the first time it had been started in over ten years.
